Carolyn Ann McNeill's Obituary
Ms. Carolyn Ann Orndorff McNeill, age 68 of Spotsylvania County passed away in the early morning of May 23, 2025 at 12:30 AM at Mary Washington Hospital, in Fredericksburg, VA.
Known to friends and family as “Byrd”, but to most as Carol. She was born on November 14, 1956 in Washington D.C. to Loring Orndorff, Jr. and Lillie Virginia Orndorff. Growing up in Maryland, she attended Springbrook High School in Silver Spring. She lived and worked in the Washington DC area for a few years before moving to her beloved West Virginia, where she had visited her grandparents often as a child, where she met and married Terry (Butch) McNeill. They ultimately settled in Fredericksburg, VA to raise their three sons, Terry, Jason, and Matthew.
Carol was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed listening to music, particularly old country music, and watching old movies. One of her favorites was “Dirty Dancing”. She enjoyed games, especially Yahtzee, that she learned from playing with her mother, Lillie. She also loved to dance and was always trying to get one of “her boys” to dance to country music with her. She will be sorely missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sherry (Hooky); and her niece, Sherry Oswald.
Carol is survived by three sons, Terry, Jr. (Claudia) of Wilkesboro, NC, Jason (Erica) of Wilkesboro, NC, and Matthew (Jennifer) of Waynesboro, VA; eight grandchildren, Jaiden, of Warrenton, VA, Mackenzie, Savannah, Jase and Ryker of Waynesboro, VA, Kaylie of Wilkesboro, NC, and Howard and Haily of Fredericksburg, VA; one sister; Donna Young (James) of Fredericksburg, VA; three brothers, Thomas Loring Orndorff, III (Debbie) of Winchester, VA, Kenny Orndorff of Madison, VA, and Michael Orndorff of Harrisonburg, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
