Carolyn "Cookie" Virginia Banks' Obituary
Carolyn “Cookie” Virginia Banks, 81, of Culpeper, VA passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, at The Culpeper, Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 3, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Carl E. and Martha Washington Sheppard.
Carolyn was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She earned her master’s degree at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Carolyn was a teacher for 39 years. She started out in Philadelphia for 15 years, and then spent the remainder of her career at Culpeper County Public Schools. She retired from Culpeper County School system in 2004. She enjoyed her retirement with her family, grandchildren, and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Armstead Banks, Jr.; children, Nicole Thompson and Ashley Banks (Katie Utz); grandchildren, David Thompson, Jacob Thompson (Courtney Thompson), Jasmine Thompson, Taylor Banks, and Georgia Banks; two great-grandchildren, Derrick Thompson and Arlo Thompson; brother, David (Tyrone) Sheppard; special great aunt, Peggie Gwynne; special friends, Jane Bauserman, Pat Sawyer, and Gayle Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
