Carl Richard Wilson's Obituary
Carl Richard Wilson, 74, of Rixeyville, VA passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was born December 29, 1949 to the late Harold R. Wilson and Anna E. Wilson in Fort Knox, KY.
Carl Wilson had a heart for Adventure.
He started his journey by joining the Air Force, where he served for 20 years. While in the Air Force, he met the love of his life, Pamela, all centered around a memorable Hershey's Kiss encounter. From there, they both ventured down the path of family life. But family wasn’t just the 2 legged kind. As the family grew it created opportunities for other dreams.
The first being his dream of becoming a cowboy and the equestrian lifestyle, where the horses are still part of the family to this day. His love for martial arts led him down a path of being the best he could be and most importantly, teaching. His love for family also took him down a lifelong path of old fashioned research and writing. Little things from Christmas letters with a family holiday photo tucked neatly inside to writing a book on our family history reaching as far back as the 1620’s and finding that a very distant relative, Mavis Beacon, came over to the Americas on the Mayflower as well as finding our family crest.
Carl's love of animals, as he was often lovingly referred to as 'The Animal Whisperer', kept at a minimum of 1 to 6 dogs, 3 horses and a miniature bull all anxious to spend every waking minute with their favorite human.
Carl was a wealth of knowledge with so much to share. He touched the lives of so many throughout his life and will greatly be missed. May his memory live long in your heart.
Carl is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pamela Wilson; children, Carolyn Wilson (Thomas Allen), Melissa Reeves (Richard Reeves), Richard Wilson (Jayreen Bobitski), Susan Wilson (Nilesh Dhangar); grandchildren, Zachary Reeves and Rebecca Reeves; his dog, Mooner; two horses, Dakota Sioux and Shadow; numerous grand puppies; and a host of other relatives and friends.
