Burgess Emerson Mills' Obituary
Burgess Emerson Mills, 88, of Rixeyville, died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at his home. He was born September 30, 1936, in Rixeyville to the late Elwood and Carrie Mills.
Burgess was a hardworking man and dedicated to his family. He was a member of Gourdvine Baptist Church. He also enjoyed gardening and playing the ponies at Charlestown.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Mills; two daughters, Barbara Ann Mills and Charlotte Mills; two sons, Burgess E. Mills, Jr. (Aimee) and LeRoy Mills; five grandchildren, Burgess Mills, III (Sarah), Gabrielle Mills Fox (Corey), Mariana Mills, Isabell Mills, and Kaleb Mills; and seven great, grandchildren, CJ Fox, Tristan Fox, Scarlotte Fox, RoseLee Kent, Bristol Mills, Joselyn Mills, and Wayland Mills.
In addition to his parents, Burgess is preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Mills; two sisters; and one half-brother.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Beeler officiating.
