Brian R. Kearns' Obituary
Brian Kearns, 45, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many departed this earth on the evening of Tuesday, April 16, 2019 after complications from surgery.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Abigail Willis Kearns; three children, Brandon (16), Andrew (14), and Allison (7); his mother, Judy Green (David) of Spotsylvania, his in-laws Edwin & Joyce Willis of Lignum, a sister, Valerie Kearns of Spotsylvania, brother Jamie Kearns (Caroline) of Spotsylvania, sister-in-law Jennifer Corbin (Jason) of Culpeper; step-mother, Elaine Kearns of Spotsylvania, two grandmothers, Dorothy Kearns of Stafford and Lora Bowman of Spotsylvania, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, C. Randolph Kearns.
He was born and raised in Stafford, VA and was a 1991 Stafford High Graduate. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Bolling AFB DC with the 11th Transportation Squadron during Operation Desert Storm. Upon discharge, Brian was employed with Carter-CAT in Fredericksburg as a heavy equipment mechanic. Using his lifelong knowledge of mechanics and communication skills, he and his wife started A&B Kearns Trucking and Stone in 2001 in Culpeper and expanded to Fredericksburg in 2014.
Brian’s passion was his family and friends and making people laugh. Brian was a hard worker and enjoyed being outdoors. He especially loved to run his collection of heavy equipment. Brian was a collector of all things and enjoyed teaching his boys the fundamentals of mechanics while working on old cars and trucks. Daddy Daughter date night was a favorite weekly treat for him and his Princess Allison.
Many local restaurants will certainly feel the loss of Brian as a loyal and frequent customer. Whenever he encountered a new waitress at one of his favorite establishments, he would try one of his tried and true jokes on them. When they asked “would you like a box”, he would raise his fists and pretend to box with them. If they asked if he needed anything else, he would say quickly respond with “A hundred dollars would be nice!” Brian knew no stranger and would always stop to lend a hand to someone in need. Brian always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Lael Baptist Church, 23296 Germanna Hwy, Lignum followed by burial at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, also in Lignum. A reception will follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church.
