Bobby Glenn McCullen's Obituary
Bobby Glenn McCullen, 83, of Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away from Alzheimer's Disease on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Bobby was born on April 29,1942 to Ezra and Ida Mae McCullen (Edwards) of Newton Grove, NC. Bobby grew up in a home that was focused on faith, family and work ethic. He attended Hobbton High School. Bobby began working on a farm at the age of 8. At 17, his uncle got him an apprentice position with a plumbing company in Virginia. Before the age of 30 he received his plumbing license and eventually opened his own company, Chancellor Plumbing. He later officially retired from Ice Heating and Cooling.
Bobby had many great loves besides his family; he was a huge sports fan of the New York Yankees, Redskins Football, North Carolina Basketball and Dale Earnhardt. He coached a local all-women’s baseball league and became state champions that earned them a trip to Las Vegas. He belonged to a bowling league, raced cars, rabbit hunted and fished. His all-time favorite foods were hot dogs, BBQ, raisin cakes and diet Dr. Pepper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Ida Mae McCullen; his daughter, Maryann Weaver, (Joe); his son, Robert Wayne McCullen; and his grandson, Shawn Dahmen.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, “his sweet apple pie” Daisy (Strother) McCullen; his sister, Judy Scott (Cecil); his brothers, Donald McCullen (Rochelle), David McCullen (Stacy), and Danny Baker (Tammy); his daughters, Denise Miller, Bobbie Marie Gladden, Deborah Franks, Tammy Strother, Terry Gerken (Bill), Reatha Rogers and Brenda Beverly (Tony); his sons, Ezra Glen McCullen and Milton Strother, Jr. (Trish); 20 grandchildren, David, Eric, Meghan, Kaitlin, Nathan, Natalie, Bobby, Kierstin, Chase, Steven, Matthew, Amanda, Kaleigh, Maggie, Britney, Andrew, Carson, Lola, Lexi and Emma; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2026 at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 2208 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg with the Rev. Justin Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
