Bobby Ray Hansford Sr.'s Obituary
Bobby Ray Hansford, Sr. age 81, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Mary
Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA.
He was born on October 7, 1942 in Decatur, Mississippi to the late Tommy Lee Lewis and Lillian Laws.
Mr. Hansford was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in Vietnam. He was also stationed in Germany, and retired from the CIA. He served the United States Embassy overseas and lived/worked in various locations, including Stockholm, Sweden, Bangkok, Thailand, Tokyo, Japan, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Hawaii, & Norway, before finally settling in Fredericksburg, VA in 1989. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Irene Calloway, and their union produced three children: Chelsea, Bobby Jr. and Sheryl. He was a long time Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed southern cooking, fishing, playing with his CB radios, and playing basketball well into his 60’s. He was also an active member of Faith Christian Center World Outreach Center until he became ill.
Predeceased by his parents: Ernest Bobby Ray Hansford, Sr. and Lillian Laws; sister: Bettye Hawkins; daughter: Chelsea Monique Hansford; brothers: Tommy Lewis, Jr., Bruce Lewis, Kenny Lewis and Charlie Lewis and grandmother: Rachel Whitten (who Bobby remembered playing at her restaurant).
Survivors include his loving wife Patricia Irene Hansford; son: Bobby Ray Hansford, Jr., daughter: Sheryl Macklin; sister: Betty Greer; grandchildren: Albert James Love White, Jr., Bobby Ray Hansford III, Jaylen Tyler Macklin, Aviana Nicole Hansford, Kierra Violet Macklin, and Corey Moses Macklin; the only remaining from our immediate family. Bobby has five nephews, three great nephews, two great nieces, six great great nephews and one great great great niece.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral
Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive
friends one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Quantico National Cemetery at 18424 Joplin Road in Triangle, VA 22172.
