Bobbie Patterson's Obituary
Bobbie Jean Patterson was born to drag racing Hall of Famer Harold Dutton and his wife Betty Dutton on October 11, 1953, in Atlanta, GA. However, Bobbie was not one to stand in anyone’s shadow and soon made a name for herself in Horseback competition earning the honor and title of AQHA & Palomino Association Grand Champion in 1969-70.
She met her husband of 42 years James Winford Patterson while attending Morrow Elementary School but didn’t marry until May 3, 1980. The couple had two children Patrick Patterson and Melissa Patterson Blackwell. In 1985 the family arrived in Fredericksburg, VA where again Bobbie made a name for herself as a community leader, entrepreneur and business woman.
Bobbie helped pioneer the women’s soccer division for Stafford County, founded an all girls traveling soccer team “Stafford Waves” and launched Starburst soccer clinics. Bobbie was also among the first female leaders in cub scouts where she successfully led pack number 847 for over five years. Bobbie also accomplished opening and operating several successful woman owned businesses such as Patterson Construction Company, Shining Star Preschool and Chancellor Bookkeeping Service.
Despite her countless accomplishments, Bobbie will always be remembered for her love of feeding others, epic Christmas parties and her impressive ability to always WIN!
Bobbie is survived by her husband, James W. Patterson; children, Patrick Patterson (Angela), and Melissa Blackwell (Chris); and grandchildren, Kayla Patterson, Isaiah Patterson, Hunter Blackwell, and Cory Blackwell.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
