Blynn Nelson Cascadden's Obituary
Blynn Nelson Cascadden passed peacefully with his loving wife and caregiver, Joan, by his side. He had bravely endured a lingering illness over the last three and a half years. He was born in Livermore Falls, Maine to Percy and Iva Wilkins Cascadden on September 28, 1931. He resided in Lewiston, Maine until he joined the service.
Blynn's love of his family was foremost to Blynn, as he always enjoyed the many visits from his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was also blessed with many friends who were like family to him.
Blynn was proud of his service in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for over 30 years. Blynn and Joan moved to Culpeper in 1988. Blynn enjoyed working part-time for T.K. Exports and volunteering at Channel 21, now Culpeper Media Network.
Blynn enjoyed golfing, fishing, horseback riding, and being with his coffee group. He loved a good joke and listening to Elvis sing Gospel music as well as watching Gunsmoke reruns. He loved watching the Washington Redskins football team and dinners around his swimming pool with family and friends. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church where he could often be found helping out whenever there was a need.
Blynn is survived by his loving wife, Joan Kibler Cascadden. His other survivors include his children, Kenneth (Beth) of Brambleton, VA, Scott of Houston, TX, Pamela Holt of New Kent, VA, Jane Lingle (Douglas) of Salisbury, NC, and Bob Cascadden (Juanita) of Bowie, MD. Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Grace, Caroline, Eve, Tucker, Harrison, David, Ian, Christopher, Andrew, and Katie; and one great-grandchild, Connell Blynn.
Blynn was preceded in death by his son, James Blynn; his brothers, Elmore “Tim” Wilkins and Kenneth; and his sister, Vernicia Severance.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the many loving people who have helped and supported them through this difficult journey, especially Peggy Brown, Dr. Kornetsky, and the entire Davita Dialysis Team of Culpeper and the Hospice of Piedmont.
