Betty Ann Smith's Obituary
Betty Ann Smith, 80, of Shenandoah, formerly of Culpeper, was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, and friend to many. She left this world on April 20, 2023 after battling debilitating illnesses. She was born to the late Raymond and Lottie Clatterbuck on September 27, 1942 in Rappahannock County.
As a young teen, Betty started her first job at Gayheart’s Drug Store. She continued waitressing at Ciro’s Pizza where she loved talking and being with friends. Betty served as a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher, as well as a pastor’s wife, and an active member of Five Forks Baptist Church. She was known for her love of people, her contagious laugh, and her down home cooking, especially her coconut pies!
Betty married Roger Smith on June 24, 1967 and had three children. She is survived by her girls, Stacy Leighan (Bernard), Susan Ramos and Dana Smith; and her son, David McCloud, Sr. (Lupe); grandchildren, William Ramos, Elizabeth Ramos, David McCloud, Jr. and Daniel McCloud; and a special nephew, Eric Lindsay.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Smith; and sisters, Peggy Stanley and Mary “Sissy” Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor John Boyd and David Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held immediately following at Bethsaida United Methodist Church, Ridgeview Rd, Brightwood, VA. Pallbearers serving the family will be David McCloud, Sr., David McCloud, Jr., Daniel McCloud, William Ramos, Bernard Leighan, Eric Lindsay, and Stephen Baker.
