Betty "Jane" Hopkins' Obituary
Jane Hopkins 85 of Culpeper passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1927 in Loudon County to the late William and Eleanor Harrington.
Betty “Jane” Harrington-Hopkins was educated in the Loudon County School System and she worked doing housekeeping until she was no longer able to work due to problems with her legs.
Jane Hopkins joined Mount Pisgah,True Blue in the early 70’s under the leadership of Reverend Wilson, she loved to listen to hymns and gospel music. Jane Hopkins had a loving spirit who loved her kids and grandkids (she was a mother and grandmother to everyone who came into her home). .
Jane loved talking to her dear friends on the phone and was always looking to laugh or make someone else laugh with her wise cracks and smart but true remarks (If you didn’t want to know the truth then you shouldn’t ask her). She loved having people around, she also liked playing spades with her family/friends and working in her crossword puzzle book.
Jane is survived by eight children; Marie Harrington of Richmond, VA, Carl Harris and his wife Valarie Harris of Warrenton, VA, Donald Hopkins of Culpeper, VA, Eugenia Hopkins (William Vest) of Charlottesville, VA, Mary Hopkins (Willie),of Richmond, VA, Patricia Hopkins of Culpeper, VA, Jacqueline Hopkins of Culpeper, VA and Doretha Hopkins-Cottoms (Robert Cottoms) of Culpeper, VA. Thirteen grandchildren Randy Hopkins and Renonia Harrington of Culpeper, VA, Carl Harris, Jr of Los Angeles, CA, Donnell Hopkins (Jennifer Hopkins) of Charlottesville, VA, Chiquita Harrington and Rhonda Alexander of Richmond, VA, Shawn White of Culpeper, Mahogany Hopkins of Upper Marlboro, MD, Antione White of Culpeper, VA, Roger Hopkins of Richmond, VA Carla Harris of Houston, TX, Shanae Harris of Jacksonville, FL and Dornesha Cottoms of Culpeper, VA. Twenty Great- Grandchildren and 2 Great Great -Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Jane was preceded in death by her husband Sim F. Hopkins, Jr ; her daughter Carolyn E. Hopkins and her brothers William and Oliver Harrington.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Founds and Sons Funeral Chapel 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Reverend Sandford Reaves, Jr, officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
