Betty Lewis Furches' Obituary
Betty Lewis Furches, 94, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Betty will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC, raised in Clemmons, and lived her adult life in Jacksonville, FL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Betty is survived by her children, Lori Thrailkill (Phil), Kristi Clore (David), Rick Furches (Linda), and Steve Furches (Partner-Peter Prinsloo); five grandchildren, Daniel Thrailkill (Joe Cianciolo), Dr. Ellen Thrailkill Britt (Forest), Chris Furches (Sara), Katie Selby (Jay), and Will Harcum (Ashley); and four great-grandchildren, Phoebe Jean Harcum, Della Harcum, Michael Thrailkill-Cianciolo, and Raleigh Thrailkill-Cianciolo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Furches; her parents, Flemon M. Lewis and Nellie Brinkley Lewis; her sisters, Ruth Speas (Tommy-deceased) and Lena Hamrick (Claude–deceased); and her brother, Stephen Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Chancellors Village Senior Lifestyle Community, Fredericksburg, VA. There will be a reception following the service for all friends and family.
We are grateful for her community, friends, and Comfort Keepers, along with the staff at Chancellors Village where she lived the last 13 years.
