Betty Ann Bryson Whetzel's Obituary
Betty Ann Bryson Whetzel, born February 24, 1935 in Batna, VA, passed into eternal rest June 29, 2015 at Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stanardsville, VA. She was the daughter of the late George Washington Bryson and the late Agnes Virginia Leake Bryson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ray Allen Whetzel.
She is also survived by her three children, Diane Whetzel Lischke and spouse James of Culpeper; Jeffrey Allen Whetzel and spouse Loretta of Criders; and Timothy Ray Whetzel and spouse Denise of Lignum; a brother, George W. Bryson Jr. and spouse Patricia of Culpeper; and sister, Irene Glover and spouse Charles of Fredericksburg.
Betty also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Jennifer Fincham and spouse Tony of Culpeper; Rachel Nauman and spouse Matt of Charlottesville; Angela Green and spouse Dr. Matt Green of Palmyra; Joselyn Whetzel of Charlottesville, Laura Whetzel of Madison; Timothy R. Whetzel, Jr. of Lignum and Sylvia Whetzel of Lignum; and eight great grandchildren.
Betty was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She previously served as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader for many years. A salesperson for Stanley Home Products for over 35 years, she served many faithful customers from her home and around the area. She was also a private nurse sitter for 25 years when the nursing home was part of the local hospital.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2 pm at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Dodson officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mark Bryson, Samuel McGill, Johnny McGill, Dr. Matt Green, Matt Nauman, Joe Creel, James Lischke and Tony Fincham. Junior pallbearers are Jordan and Jacob Waldron.
