Betty Joyce Bailey's Obituary
Betty Joyce Bailey, wonderful wife of Donald R. Bailey for almost 60 years, died peacefully at home in Culpeper, Virginia on May 23, 2011 after a 12 year battle with cancer. Betty, affectionately known as “Boss” was born October 17, 1932 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Loren and Carrie Leach, the last of eight children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters as well as a son, Douglas and a grandson, David.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Don, three children, Greg (Angela), Nancy (Charles) and Debra (Duane) as well as seven grandchildren, Sam, Mary, John, Dan, Carrie, Brandon, Anthony, two great grandchildren, Jaycie and David and three special nieces, Georgia, Shirley and Jennifer and a nephew, Billy.
Betty and Don graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1950 and were married on January 1, 1952. Both were then employed by the Department of Defense in Washington, DC. Over the years they lived in Woodbridge, Fairfax and Oakton, Virginia until Don retired and they moved to their retirement home in Culpeper. After the children were grown they discovered golf and played at every opportunity, especially enjoying their annual golfing trips to Myrtle Beach, Sc.
All funeral services will be private.
