Bethany Morrow Smith
Longtime City resident and former Steigers employee
Bethany Morrow Smith passed away quietly and peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2007 in Leesburg, Virginia. She was 81.
Born in Springfield, MA to Mary Jane Lillis and Bryan Morrow, she grew up and lived most of her life in East Spring-field. A graduate of Springfield Trade High School, class of 1945, she was employed locally at Forbes & Wallace and retired from the Albert Stiegers Co. after 25 years of service. She then volunteered at the Weldon Rehab Center at the Mercy Hospital. She loved animals, especially horses and her buddy-Bosco the cat. And she loved to travel and learn from her adventures.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald W Smith Sr, her son Donald W Smith Jr, her grandchildren, Katrina Aimee Peters and Kevin Thomas Peters. Surviving are her daughter, Kathleen Smith Peters and son in law, Thomas J. Peters of Haymarket, VA; her cousin Elizabeth A. Castro of West Hartford, CT and many friends.
As we celebrate her life she will be remembered as a strong, determined woman, full of life, always willing to help a friend in need.
Services will begin at 9:30 AM, Friday, May 18th at St. Mary's Church 840 Page Blvd Springfield with burial to follow at St. Michaels Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield.
