Bessie Lou Baldwin's Obituary
Bessie Lou Baldwin, 97, of Washington, VA passed away at home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. She was born in Rileyville, VA located in Page County on December 2, 1916 to the late George Burk and Elizabeth Baldwin.
Bessie attended school in Rileyville, VA. She later met her loving husband, Thomas whom she married in Luray and together they worked their dairy, chicken and cattle farms. She also loved being co-manager of Lewis Mountain Lodge for 17 years located in the Shenandoah National Park. Bessie and Thomas moved to Culpeper where they lived for 48 years then moved to Washington, VA 29 years ago to be closer to her son and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Paul Baldwin, Sr. and his wife, Cucie; two grandsons, Paul Baldwin, Jr. and Thomas V. Baldwin; one granddaughter, Teresa B. Dodson; four great granddaughters, Jessica Jarrels, Megan Edwards, Allison Baldwin and Amanda Baldwin; one great grandson, Thomas V. Baldwin, Jr.; one great great grandson, Aaron Jarrels; and one sister, Nina Fox.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bessie was preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar Baldwin, David Baldwin, Joe Baldwin, John Baldwin, Thomas Baldwin and Daniel Baldwin; and her sisters, Vergie Smeltzer, Verlie Baldwin, Nellie Clatterbuck, Delpha Baldwin and Mary Welch.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The service will start at 11 am with Rev. John Burke officiating.
Interment will follow in Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Moyer, Wayne Baldwin, Dale Alford, Carl Welch, Roddy Baldwin, John Baldwin, Jr. and Larry Baldwin.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
