Bernice Yowell Simmons' Obituary
Bernice Yowell Simmons, 94, of Culpeper, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born March 4, 1915 in Culpeper, VA to the late Lamon Yowell and Ida Rider Yowell.
In her early adulthood, Mrs. Simmons worked at Culpeper Garment Factory and formed many lasting friendships. She was a longtime member of Culpeper Baptist Church where she raised her daughter in the Baptist beliefs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lacy B. Simmons, two sisters, Marjorie Y. Jenkins and Beatrice Y. Grimsley (Sissy) and two brothers, Lamon C. Yowell, Jr. and Billy Pete Yowell.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her daughter, Gail S. Brown and her husband, Jerry H. Brown, a grandson, Jerry H. Brown II “Jay” and his wife, Heather, and granddaughter, Kris Norris and her husband, Randy all of Culpeper. She loved and cherished her family especially her four great grandchildren, Chloe and Joshua Brown and Taylor and Tristen Norris. She is also survived by her sister, Gertrude Hudson of Culpeper, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Farrar officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jay Brown, Randy Norris, Drew Hudson, Jimmy Timberlake, Jim Temple, and Mike Rudd.
