Bernard R. "Benny" Settle, Sr.'s Obituary
Bernard R. “Benny” Settle, Sr., 76, died Tuesday, February 10, 2020 at Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1943 to the late Ollie H. Sr. and Alberta Fraizer Settle.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen “Kee” Settle; two children, Bernard “Jake” Settle of Elkwood, VA, and Elisa Curtis (Mark) of Summerduck, VA; one stepdaughter, Tammy Sheppard of Spruce Pine, NC; and one sister, Gloria Myers of Elkwood, VA.
Additional survivors include three grandsons, Trey Settle, Tanner Curtis and Kyle Curtis; one granddaughter, Andie Brown; one great granddaughter, Madilyne Curtis; and four step grandchildren, Matthew Sheppard, Zerita Randolph, Amy and Elizabeth Sheppard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Ollie, Jr., Kenny and Burnette Settle; and one brother-in-law, Jesse “Pete” Myers.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 2 p.m. at First Century Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Myers, Rick Myers, Steve Settle, Kenny Racer, Justin Smith, and Mark Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to First Century Baptist Church, 19111 Batna Rd., Culpeper, VA 22701.
