Barry Stuart Gates' Obituary
Barry Stuart Gates, 64, of Madison, VA passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Culpeper Hospital. He was born February 14, 1960 to the late Chester Mason and Jeanne Lambert Gates.
Following his own diagnosis, Barry avidly applied his love of computers and helping people to serve as a facilitator for support groups with the American Brain Tumor Association. He enjoyed hiking and biking, and participating in fundraising events for Multiple Sclerosis.
Barry is survived by his wife, Shawna Lonergan Gates; daughter, Nina Spencer and her partner Stephen Paul Musok; grandchildren, Sophia Airianna Spencer, Izsabella Garcia Spencer, and Eliana Mae Spencer; siblings, Katie Gates and David Gates; and friends and a host of extended family including Gina Marchica and Christa Hodge.
In addition to his parents, Barry is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jemma Leigh Spencer and siblings, Ellen Gates Hawkins and Charles Gates.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Madison Presbyterian Church, 1236 Fishback Road, Madison, Va 22727.
