Barbie Johnson's Obituary
Barbie Johnson, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, was welcomed into God’s Kingdom on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, after a courageous but brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by love in her final days, something we can all hope for. She was born in Charlottesville, VA on September 4, 1974.
Her strength in the face of adversity was nothing short of extraordinary. Her life tested her many times, but she never stopped fighting, never stopped loving, and never stopped showing up for those she cared about.
To know Barbie was to know someone who felt everything deeply, good or bad. Whether it was the bond she shared with her daughters, her love for animals, or her passion for the great outdoors. There was no place she loved more than the mountains or a quiet riverbank, fishing pole in hand and peace in her heart.
Barbie also had a playful, spirited side. She was a die-hard fan of The Rocky Movies and Sylvester Stallone; watching those movies was a favorite pastime of hers. She loved staying up late watching her favorite shows and movies, often curled up with a blanket and one of her pets by her side. This is how she could often be found in the early morning, having fallen asleep.
Her humor, loyalty, and resilience left a mark on everyone who knew her. She taught her daughters how to be brave, how to love fiercely, how to stick up for themselves, and how to find joy in simple things.
She will be missed beyond measure, but her spirit lives with Christ. She will be remembered in the mountains, on the beach, and in the hearts of her daughters and loved ones who will carry her with them always and forever.
Barbie is survived by her mother, Bonnie Sue Fincham; her father, Gary Leland Johnson; her children, Catlyn Williams (Joshua Johnson), Savannah Ray (Trevor Ray), Haleigh Brown (Damian Herring); sister, Kiley Jeffries (Brian) and their daughters, Brianna Jeffries and Alyvia Jeffries; cousins, Jason Johnson and Jamie Johnson; her beloved dog Cookie; and a host of extended family and friends.
