Dear Uncle Max,
Aunt Barbara always made it seem as if she was the lucky one to be my Aunt, however I was the lucky one to have her as my Aunt. That was just how she was. I have wonderful memories of time spent with you both and my cousins Scott and Dan.

Though we only spent time with Barb a few times when she visited Dan, Julie and her grandkids in North Carolina, she impressed us with her kindness, quick wit and wonderful baking skills. (Honestly, her cherry pie was one of the best things I've ever tasted!) I loved talking to her about what she was reading and her grandchildren, who she loved dearly. She will be missed. Dear Max, please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. Barbara was an amazing person and so instrumental in the shape and formation of the library, the friends and the board. Her dedication, interest and efforts on the boards and as a volunteer to the library was untiring. She and I often joked about how she came to be a volunteer, our first one and only one at the old library. She was a dedicated volunteer even then, but that only grew as the years progressed. She even volunteered you for many projects. Her dedication was inspiring to all of us. Nothing was too much for her to give in her time and commitment whether it was meetings, pansy sales, the bookstore or working on the front desk. I always knew she was either leading the way or behind me to help me along. The library benefited in so many ways by having her as our champion. Susan Keller
Barb and I met in 1983 when I joined the mortgage banking business at BF Saul, we then continued to work together for 20+ years. I learned so much from her, but most especially she was a faithful friend. Barbara had the best memory, where she could remember things my kids and grandkids did, that I had forgotten. Even after Max and Barb moved to Culpepper, and we’d see one another less frequently she’d bring up a memory that most of us had not remembered. You are missed my friend, I love you and will keep your Max and family in my prayers.
