Barbara S. Nichols' Obituary
Barbara S. Nichols, 92, of Culpeper died Friday, August 23, 2019 at English Meadows Senior Living Community. She was born in Pearisburg, VA on April 5, 1927 to the late Frank and Grace Strader Sr.
Mrs. Nichols attended Madison College studying education, music and art. She taught for 31 years in the Virginia public school system.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan N. Norris (Bobby) of Culpeper, and Mary E. Schelin (Glen) of Stafford; one brother, Frank B. Strader, Jr. of Pearisburg, VA; one grandson, Jeremy Parker Aylor of Culpeper; three additional grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Makenzie Aylor of Madison; and 8 additional great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Nichols, Jr.; and her sister, Sarah Howard.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at New Salem Baptist Church, 8233 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
