Barbara June Berry's Obituary
Barbara June Howdershelt Berry, another angel gained her wings on Thursday evening May 22, 2014 when Bobbie June left this world and went up to meet her Lord and savior.
Bobbie was born on February 20, 1942 to her parents, Robert and Violet Howdershelt here in Chancellor where she along with her brother, Robbie grew up.
She would spend her summers in Danville, VA with her beloved cousins, Janet, Diane, and Joyce with laughter and antics that still made her giggle about, even in her seventies.
She graduated from Spotsylvania High School and took classes for about a year at Mary Washington College in mathematics.
She fell in love with the boy working at the meat counter at Belmans Grocery with the “dreamy” brown eyes and married him, Robert Berry on September 8, 1962, and set off on their lifetime of love, friendship, and laughter, and continued this for 51 years until he passed away on December 29, 2013. Anyone who knew them could see the love radiate between them, always doting on each other, holding hands, and constantly saying “I love you”.
Our mother loved her trips to the ocean and said she never felt Gods presence more than she did watching the waves gently rolling in.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Howdershelt, her grandparents, grandma & granddaddy Thomas and her granddaughter, Angel Lee and her husband, Robert Berry.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beautiful 94 year old mother, Violet; her brother, Robbie Howdershelt and his wife, Donna; her children, Kimba Berry and fiancé, Ralph Rowley; her son, Jeffrey Berry and wife, Laraye, her “baby” Gregory Berry and partner, Rosie Sommer, her “honorary” son, Keith Gert and partner, Sheila; her grandchildren, Cheryl, Jesse, Michael, Becka, Kelsey, Jacob, Lexi, Kylee, Jayden, Carla, J.T. Roman, Damien, and Logan along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as well as her church families from Spotswood and Freedom Baptist Churches.
A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Spotswood Baptist Church on Lafayette Blvd with the Rev. Jim Stone officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kim Berry for the continuing care of her mother, Violet to 5903 Griffith Way, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
