Barbara "Barbie" Lou Baker's Obituary
Barbara “Barbie” Lou Baker went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 4, 2018. She was born in Salem, WV on August 7, 1943 to the late William Hobart Pierce and Alice Louise Pierce.
Barbara was married to Jerry E. Baker for several years and they were blessed with one daughter, Karen Ann Baker. They divorced later and she never remarried.
She continued to reside in northern Virginia where she purchased a home in Burke, VA which she adored and was proud of.
In 2010, Barbara was dealing with life threatening health issues and resided with her daughter and her loving husband, Mike, in Culpeper, VA. She admired and respected Mike and was famous for telling everyone she met that he was “her” son. To Mike, she was “Mom II” since he also had a very loving mother of his own. Barbara had hopes of returning to her home in Burke, but due to failing health she was unable to.
Barbara had a love for all animals and referred to them as little people with fur. She also enjoyed people and her passion for cooking for her friends.
She was a very loving, strong, and independent person who will be greatly missed, but her memory will remain in our hearts forever.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Karen Baker-Page and her husband, Mike of Culpeper, VA; two sisters, Becky Dean of Bridgeport, WV and Ann Richards of Columbia, MD; a brother, Bill Pierce and his wife, Barbara of Monroe, MI.
She is also survived by her cat, Alice, who is named in remembrance of her mother.
A committal service will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum 4160 Rixeyville Rd, Jeffersonton, VA with Brad Hales officiating.
A celebration of life will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church, 601 Madison Rd, Culpeper, VA at a later date.
