Audrey Estelle Huffman Payne's Obituary
Audrey Estelle Huffman Payne, 83, of Culpeper, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at her residence. She was born on October 28, 1923 in Rappahannock County to the late Russell Huffman and Sallie Ann Brown Huffman.
Mrs. Payne was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Remington. She was also a member of the Culpeper Women’s Club and served with the Pink ladies at the Culpeper Regional Hospital. Above all she was a loving and devoted grandmother to her 10 grandchildren whom she adored greatly.
She is survived by her children, Charles Venable Payne of Culpeper, Edward Marcelous Payne of Culpeper, Sarah Margaret Payne of Locust Grove, and Leigh Payne Wood and her husband, Dan of Warrenton.
Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Anne Calvert Chilton, Christopher Venable Payne, Carrie Nottingham Brown, Kristen Kendall Payne, John Hamilton Payne, Hunter Daniel Payne, Davis Colby Wood, Devin Marie Wood, Carter Ryan Wood, and Caden Blair Wood and two great grandchildren, Walker Chilton and Spencer Chilton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Venable Payne and her son, Duff Hamilton Payne.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Hammond and Rev. Joseph Warring officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Wood, John Payne, Hunter Payne, Donald Marsh, Maxwell Bowen, and Jim Rutledge. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Inskeep and Tuck Pulliam.
