Atler B. Stanley's Obituary
Atler B. Stanley, 90, of Culpeper passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born November 19, 1922 in Stratton, VA to the late Marcus and Ollie Stanley.
Mr. Stanley was deputy sheriff in Dickinson County from 1950 to 1951 and worked construction for 12 years for Guy E. Simpson, Inc. In 1962 he started his own construction company, Atler B. Stanley & Sons and after 45 years he passed the business to his three children. He loved farming, bluegrass music and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his three children; Raymond Stanley and his wife, Linda, Stuart Stanley and his wife, Dina and Edna Lindemann and her husband, Richard; one sister, Beulah “Boots” Lambert; seven grandchildren; Corey Stanley and his wife, Cindy, Wesley Stanley and his wife, Melissa, Christina Davis, Jacob and Katie Stanley, and Cole and Jesse Lindemann; and five great grandchildren; Ashton, Avery, Cameron and Branson Stanley and Mackenzie Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Stanley, his sister-in-law who lived with them both, Willie “Wib” Ball; and seven siblings, Gracie Stanley, Sevetta Mae Stanley, Garland Stanley, Oakley Stanley, Cleta Stanley, Rena Kestner and Alton Stanley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17 2013, at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Light officiating.
Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
