Ashby Wilson Mills' Obituary
A. W. Mills, 91, peacefully passed at his Brandy Station residence Sunday, August 26, 2007. He was born September 1, 1915 and was the 7th son of Edward Bailey and Rosa Harrison Mills of Fauquier County.
A.W. was a Business Owner, Farmer and Cattle Dealer for the greater part of his life. He began working as a young boy, owned his first business as a teenager and was blessed to be able to continue working into his 91st year.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Payne Mills, seven brothers, Clarence, George, Aubrey, Walter, Eddie, Harvey and Richard, two sisters, Anna V. “Dollie” Woolfrey and Lillian M. Mills, a son-in-law, William C. “Kico” Hedrick.
Mr. Mills is survived by his two daughters, Patricia A. Hedrick of Springfield, Carole M. McKenney and husband, Dick, of Brandy Station, one granddaughter, Karin N. Hedrick of San Diego, CA and a faithful family friend and helper, Dorothy Robinson of Remington; in addition, a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 31, at 12 noon at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. John S. Farrar officiating.
Pallbearers are Russell Williams, David Cooper, Greg Olinger, Bryan Cooper, Jerome Veeney. Honorary pallbearers are Russell Olinger and Garfield Freeze.
