Arthur Salvatore Meli's Obituary
Arthur Salvatore Meli, 95, died on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Fredericksburg, VA.
Born in Glens Falls, NY, Art later moved to Los Angeles, CA where he met his wife of 67 years, Marcelle Elaine Hincks. He graduated from UCLA with a BA in French.
An Army veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, Art was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and many other medals for his service as Combat Infantry Officer and Platoon Leader. Art continued to serve his country through dedicated service as an Intelligence Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency for over 30 years. Art's career took him to various assignments throughout the world, including extensive travel in Southeast Asia and South America. After retirement, Art and Marcelle lived in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Predeceased by his wife; Art is survived by his seven children, Donald Meli and wife, Randy of Annandale, VA, Michael Meli and wife, Mary of Great Falls, VA, Richard Meli of Houston, TX, Carla Rice and husband, Jim of Yorktown, VA, Teresa Broberg and husband, Al of Minneapolis, MN, Paula Havens of Manassas Park, VA, and Lisa Alzamora and husband, Steve, of Ashburn, VA; as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of The Crossings at Falls Run and Mary Washington Hospice, Fredericksburg, VA.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
