Arthur Crocker's Obituary
Arthur Matthew Crocker, 74, of Culpeper died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Culpeper Regional Hospital after courageously fighting chronic lung disease for over five years. He was born April 17, 1936 in Erie, PA to the late Edward M. and Susan Kettern Crocker.
He was raised in Erie and entered the Army after high school, serving 6 years. He then began his career as a Communications Officer with the Department of State. He retired in 1989 after 28 years of service. In retirement he found great enjoyment in hiking with his wife and in square dancing with the Greene Cloverleafs Square Dance Club.
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Bonnie Jo Crocker. He is also survived by his children and their spouses – Theresa and Michael Coppola of Charlottesville, Ann Crocker of Sterling, Timothy and Holly Crocker of Bristow, James and Hope Crocker of Stevensburg, Steven and Misty Crocker of Floydada, TX and Carol and Ben Kelsey of Stevensburg. He was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His siblings, Marian Otteni of Girard, PA, Betty Kingsbury of Fairfax, VA, and Madalyn Koscelnik of The Villages, FL also survive him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings – Alice Brown, Howard Crocker, Edward “Bud” Crocker, Carl Crocker, John Crocker and Jean Hetz.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 1:30pm at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 East Edmondson Street, Culpeper, VA with Father Leo Zonneveld officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sok Yi and Lori Eaton as well as the nursing staff at Culpeper Regional Hospital for their excellent care.
