Arthur Ray Carey's Obituary
Arthur Ray Carey, 69, of Locust Grove, VA, was born on March 19, 1952, in Charlottesville, VA to the late Roy and Annie Bell Carey. He peacefully entered eternal rest on December 30, 2021. Arthur was the pride and joy of his parents and all who knew him loved him.
Arthur gave his life to Christ at an early age, His disability limited his mobility, but it did not impact his love of God and others. Arthur worked at restaurant, he was gifted at fitting parts from brooms, and he went to rehabilitation to gain skills in shoe repair. Arthur always challenged himself and never let his disability define him.
When it was clear he could no longer take care of himself, he was delighted to be placed in a nursing facility where he quickly became companion and friends to all of the staff and other patients. As his health continued to decline, he never complained or felt sorry for himself. He was always cheerful, kind, and loving. One of Arthur’s favorite activities was reciting the Lord’s Prayer with family and friends.
Arthur was the 13th of 14 single births of his parents. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Annie Bell Carey; his brothers John Daniel, Henry Wallace, Leroy, William, Joe and his sisters Laura Askew, Florence Marshall, Julia Armistead, Shelvia Richards, and Mary Campbell. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother Jacob Carey (Gloria), sister Mardi Street, and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
