Arnold "Trey" Meredith Lewis III's Obituary
Arnold “Trey” Meredith Lewis III, 50, of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Born on December 17, 1974 in Washington, D.C., Trey lived a bountiful life guided by his ever-present faith. While he battled several medical issues throughout his life, he is remembered most by his friends, family, and community for his love of his two sons, Alistair, 13, and Rowan, 11, as well as his love of firefighting, music, and his commitment to God.
Trey grew up in Stafford, Virginia, surrounded by a love of swimming and music. While a student at Stafford High School, Trey flourished on the swim team and in the school band, and joined the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad as a junior member. After stints in several different occupations, Trey achieved his boyhood dream of becoming a professional firefighter in 2003.
Trey married Jennifer Aull in 2005 and as they welcomed their two boys, they filled their home with music and faith. As a proud father, Trey shared his love for swimming with Alistair and Rowan, cheering them on and sharing their races with family. As a devout Christian and active member in his church, Trey also shared his musical talent by playing in the church orchestra.
While Trey medically retired from the fire department in 2009, his career as a firefighter stands as one of Trey’s defining achievements in his life. As he went on to work at Riverside Dinner Theater, he volunteered at the Rescue Squad and supported the first responders in our area; often tuning into the local firefighter scanners and alerting community pages of ongoing events. Whether watching his sons succeed, participating in his church, or keeping up with local events, Trey is surely remembered as a passionate member of his community.
Trey is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Lewis; his wife, Jennifer Lewis; his sons, Alistair and Rowan; his sisters, Meredith Griffin (Bruce), and Mary Frances Masterson (Paul); and two nieces, Allison and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by his father and namesake, Arnold Meredith Lewis, Jr.
A celebration of Trey’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Spotswood Baptist Church, 4009 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the organizations which Trey held close to his heart, Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, or to the Fredericksburg Fire Department.
