Archie Roland Williams' Obituary
Archie Williams, the son of the late Cleveland and Pearl Williams and grandson to the late William and Josephine Lawson died on March 26th 2026
Born in Washington DC, Archie visited his grandparents in Culpeper and became very attached to his grandmother Josephine, so at a young age Archie would remain in Culpeper. Upon Archie’s grandparents passing, his late Aunt, also named Josephine Lawson, became his closest relative and would care for him like a son. While still in school Archie began working on cars in his spare time, developing a passion, and would also work on the family farm and lumber trade business with his grandfather. Archie would soon discover that God had given him the talent that would help him perfect his trade of lumbering as well as building & restoring cars (with many painted with his favorite color; red), that later becoming his lifetime passion.
Nicknamed "Moses" because of his long white hair and beard, Archie established a reputation as an honest and hardworking person that could be counted on when needed and trusted throughout his years. Here’s a few fun facts about Archie: He was one of the best horseshoe players around. He loved watching races at the racetrack, hunting and he was a big flirt with the ladies. He was also gifted with a wonderful sense of humor, and glowing personality he would immediately be the life of the party when he would hold his annual Family and Friends Picnic, always wanting to give back to the people he held most dear.
He is survived by his sister, Louise (Louisa) Williams, and two brothers, Cleveland and Joseph Williams. His cousin, Francis Lawson, son to the late Josephine Lawson, grew up with Archie and was like a brother and advocate.
He is also survived by his 4 nieces, Carmita Bridget Criss, Stephanie Hudnell, Raprisha Williams and Lori Williams; Francis Lawson’s children; a host of 1st and 2nd cousins; as well as many friends and business associates.
