Anthony Clay Kehnle's Obituary
Anthony C. (Tony) Kehnle, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force, Ret., passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on December 12, 1944, to the late William Edward and Helen (Moe) Kehnle.
Tony graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers (now the education department of Vanderbilt University). Following graduation in 1966, he entered the USAF Officer Training School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in April 1967. Tony’s 25-year Air Force career included assignments at duty stations in six states and four foreign countries. He served temporarily in many locations world-wide to include Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. His primary duties were in air defense and public relations. Following his Air Force career he worked for Electronic Data Systems as a project manager on Air Force and Department of Defense contracts. He retired from EDS in 2008.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Jean; son, Ryan (Nikole) of Ortonville, Minnesota; daughter, Carrie Thompson (Brian) of Arlington; stepson, Jeff Rankins (Lisanne) of Partlow; and beautiful grandkids, Makenna, Quinlan and Oscar. He is also survived by his brother, Paul (Barbara) of Holland, Michigan and their wonderful family.
He was preceded in death by his loving brother, Jeff (Jackie) of Medina, Ohio.
Tony, like his brother, Jeff, battled cancer to the end. The family wishes to thank everyone who cared for Tony throughout his illness. Each and every act of kindness, support and love meant so very much to his family and gave them the strength they needed to live through this most difficult journey.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the family home.
