Anthony Colletti's Obituary
Anthony M. Colletti, 58, of Spotsylvania County passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Anthony was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on April 26, 1951, to Anthony Colletti and Carmella Colletti of Tucson, Ariz.
A mentor and coach to countless children throughout Spotsylvania County, Tony will continue to touch the lives of many in spite of his early passing. He coached football, basketball, baseball, swimming and golf, and was safety director of the Fawn Lakers Water Ski Team. He dedicated himself to teaching young people the life lessons of integrity and honorable values through sports.
Tony also donated countless hours to the Fawn Lake Community, serving on many boards. He carried out the annual Fourth of July fireworks show to honor his country and those who served their country.
Tony exhibited amazing loyalty to his many friends and relatives both in Virginia and New York.
Tony is survived by two loving and devoted children, Marybeth and Brandon Colletti, to whom he was equally devoted. He is also survived by two sisters Rosalie Kleeb of Tucson, and Maria Colletti of New York; and a brother, Jack Colletti of New York.
After graduating from Blessed Sacrament High School in New Rochelle, he attended Iona College.
Tony married Patricia Dallow in Pelham, N.Y. They shared 30 wonderful years together. Patti passed away two years ago of ovarian cancer and, typical of Tony's passion to make a difference, he created the Patti Colletti Cancer Research Fund at U.Va.
Tony's family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Found & Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Wilderness Community Church, 10501 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, with the Rev. Keith D. Boyette officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Patti Colletti Research Fund, U.Va. Cancer Center, Box 800773, Charlottesville, Va. 22908.
