Annie Updike Kilby's Obituary
Annie Ellen Updike Kilby, 96, of Culpeper died Monday, August 20, 2012 at Dogwood Village of Orange. She was born September 13, 1915 in Rappahannock County to the late James and Essie Cannon Updike.
She is survived by her four children, Thomas Franklin Kilby and his wife, Nancy of Richmond, Stonewall Jackson Kilby of Reva, Jean Minnis and her husband, John of Boston and James Edward Kilby of Boston, two nieces, Jacqueline Brooks and Marion Updike Minnis, two nephews, Glen Hudson, Jr. and Thomas Updike, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Stonewall Kilby, her siblings, Thomas Updike, Una Updike Hahn and Elizabeth Updike Hudson, and two daughters-in-law, Phyllis Clore Kilby and Betty Dodson Kilby.
Mrs. Kilby enjoyed crocheting and making various crafts. She was a member of the Morningside Home Demonstration Club as well as a member of the Quilters Club.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2 pm at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Sandy Martin officiating.
Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Slate Mills Baptist Church, 59 Round Hill Rd., Boston, VA 22713 &/or Hospice of the Rapidan, PO Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701.
