Angela Soliman's Obituary
Angela Soliman passed away at her home on September 2, 2019 surrounded by her friends and family.
She was born October 24, 1927 in Alexandria, Egypt to Maria Patounas and Armando DeBotton. With an Italian father and a Greek mother living in Egypt, she mastered five languages fluently. She met her husband KawKab while working for a British company in Cairo, Egypt. The couple married January 11, 1959 and were happily married for 42 years until KawKab’s death in February 2001. The family immigrated to the United States in October 1970 and decided to make Virginia their home to be near her sister Rita.
Angela had many talents which included playing the piano and dancing (she even won a trophy), crocheting and knitting. Angela worked for Sheet Metal Workers International Association in Washington, DC from November 1970 to her retirement in November 1992. Upon her retirement, Angela enjoyed painting ceramics, volunteering for the commissioner of revenue in Stafford, volunteering for Mary Washington Hospital, but most of all she enjoyed volunteering with her daughter at Rikki’s Refuge Animal Sanctuary.
Angela was a strong, independent, stubborn, fearless woman who enjoyed life to the fullest, made friends easily and always greeted everyone with a hug and a kiss.
She is survived by her daughter, Mariza Soliman; her sister, Rita Massih; her nieces, Claris (Alex) Abramidis, Doris (Bill) Earley, Dina Massih and Claudy Massih; and her grandnieces, Katie Abramidis and Maggie (Matt) D’Amato; the Wilson family; and her caretaker, Rusty.
Angela’s family would also like to thank the employees and volunteers of Capital Caring Hospice for taking such good care of Angela during the final months that she was with us.
Angela’s family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2019 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at Basilico’s, 7011 Harrison Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Rikki’s Refuge animal sanctuary in Orange, VA.
