Andrew Douglas Jr.'s Obituary
Andrew "Bud" Douglas, affectionately known as "Doey" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024.
He was born on July 12, 1937 in Girard, OH to his parents, Mary "Mono" and Andrew Douglas. He shared a passion for Civil War history, having served the Fredericksburg Battlefield as a tour guide for many years, yet one of his favorite places was fishing on the Nags Head Pier in the Outer Banks, NC. Andrew had a heart of gold, as he worked in healthcare for the majority of his life.
Andy Douglas was a profoundly kind man, and the only thing greater than his kindness was his love for his wife, Mae Douglas, who he spent almost 65 wonderful years alongside. Having met at a young age, they started dating in junior high school and were married in 1959.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Joyce.
He leaves behind his beautiful "girl" and loving wife, Mae, along with his children, Frank (Barb) Douglas, Mary Joyce Douglas, and Judy (Doug) Love, along with his adoring grandchildren, Melissa, Heather, Robby (Lauren), and Andrew. His great grandchildren, Robert James, Jeffrey Douglas, and Cyrus Love, will continue to learn about him and honor his legacy. His buddy, best friend, and cat, Scotty, whom he had a special bond with, will miss him dearly. He truly lived life to the fullest, being young at heart and his family was truly his world and priority.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. For those unable to attend, you may view the memorial service over livestreaming.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the North Carolina Aquarium Society at https://ncaquariumsociety.com/donate/ or to the Thurman Brisben Homeless Shelter, at https://brisbencenter.org/donate-funds/ of Fredericksburg, where he was a volunteer.
