Alvin Reid Livesay Jr.'s Obituary
CMDR USN (Ret.), Alvin Reid Livesay, Jr., 86, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011. Al is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Kay; his children (and their spouses) include sons, Douglas Livesay (Sue), David Livesay, stepson, Allen Hansen; four daughters, Cheryl Shuey (Dan), Cindy Pentz, Katrina Anderson (John), Michele Crowder (Michael); 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Livesay (Connie); nephew, Timmy Livesay (Christy); a grandnephew and a grandniece.
Al was born and raised in Richmond, VA, until he began his distinguished military service in 1943. After his 24 years of Navy service, Al retired and began his second career with Univac Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. Upon retirement, Al spent his years visiting family and friends, woodworking, and flying his Piper Cherokee Arrow airplane. He was also a Master Mason in good standing for 50 plus years. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Al’s family will receive friends Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Rd. Fredericksburg, VA. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00am at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:00pm.
