Alvin Sylvester Colbert's Obituary
Alvin Sylvester Colbert, 61, of Culpeper, passed away on March 18, 2026 at UVA Culpeper Medical Center. He was born January 2, 1965, in Charlottesville, Va. to the late Betty Ann Gray and George Davis.
Alvin attended Culpeper County High School and later earned his GED. He was a jack of all trades—someone who could fix or figure out just about anything he set his mind to. He approached life in his own way, and though he faced challenges along the journey, he met them with resilience and heart, always finding a way forward. At his core, Alvin was kind and generous, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
He was also known for his quick wit and playful spirit, and his natural sense of humor brought joy to those around him. Whether through stories or jokes, he had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease—leaving behind memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Tommie E. Gray, Sr., sister, Rachel D. Gray and brother, Tommie E. Gray, Jr.
Alvin is survived by his children, Courtney Dinkins (Terence), Alexander Banks and Tia Banks; his grandchildren, Taylor and Tinsley Dinkins; his sister, Kimberly Gray (Mortie); a host of nieces and nephews; and many other cherished family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, where a funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later date.
