Alvin V. Bilodeau's Obituary
Alvin Valerian Bilodeau, 87, passed away on July 30, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital due to cancer. He was the beloved husband of Pauline. They shared over 61 years of marriage together.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the eldest son of Valerian and Yvonne Bilodeau. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence, and Trine University (formerly Tri-State College), Angola, Indiana with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed with Boeing Missile Defense and General Dynamics Electric Boat where he worked as electrical engineering supervisor, inventor and manager.
Alvin was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was honored with the Bronze Star and other awards from both the American and South Korean military.
Mr. Bilodeau was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish in King George, Virginia. He enjoyed bike riding, reading religious and historical literature and watching classic movies from his sizable collection of films. Alvin will be remembered for his Catholic faith in God, his devotion to his family, and all that he provided them to include many memorable trips and vacations across this great nation.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Pauline (Fredericksburg, VA); his children: Denis and his wife Tracey (VA); Richard and his wife Danielle (GA); Donald and his wife Rosemary (VA); Diane and her husband John Barton (NH); Thomas and his wife Stephanie (KY); Anne Marie and her husband Timothy Header (VA), 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Lucille Sherlock, Ernest Bilodeau, Claire Hammond, Georgette Fleuette, Gilbert Bilodeau, and Roland Bilodeau. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Paul Bilodeau.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, 1 August 2016 at the Found and Sons Funeral Home, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA.
The funeral service will be a High Mass on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 10299 Millbank Road, King George. Interment will take place at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia at a later date.
The family requests that memorial donations may be made in Alvin’s name to St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 10299 Millbank Rd. King George VA 22485.
