Alveda Irene McFadden's Obituary
"God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be. So, He wrapped His arms around you, and He whispered, “Come to Me”. You didn’t deserve what you went through, so He gave you needed - rest, God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best."
Alveda Irene McFadden, 69, of Spotsylvania County, went home to fly with angels, after a long battle with cancer, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away at Mary Washington Hospital.
Alveda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother She was also a loving daughter, devoted sister, and cherished friend to many. Early in life, she meets her soulmate, Russell Bernard, and had a long and loving marriage, three children, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way. Besides her family that she took great pride in, she loved to be outside, plant in her garden and watch the hummingbirds. Her first job was her kids and as they grew up and left; she found her love working for Mary Washington Hospital from which she retired. She loved to sew, cook, and crotchet and later in life her greatest love were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alveda is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Russell Bernard; two loving daughters, Tina Smith (Jimmy) and Teresa Bruno (Scott); one beloved son, Russell "Russ" B. McFadden II; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Victoria, Samantha, James, Skylar, Alyssa, Lil Russell and Joseph; and eleven great-grandchildren, Khia, Emmah, Christopher, Amiyah, August, Avah, Jaxson, Matilda, Ryder, Kingston, Bella and one on the way.
Alveda was preceded in death by her parents, Melton and Lena Pitts; a granddaughter, Heather Smith; and her son-in-law, James Smith.
Pallbearers named will be her grandsons, Christopher McFadden and James Smith; son-in-law, Scott Bruno; nephew, Kris Brooks; and family friends, Shane Peppers and Victor Dillard.
Alveda’s family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2019 in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
