Alton "Big Al" Haskins Jr.'s Obituary
Alton, “Big Al”, Haskins, Jr., 69, of Culpeper, VA passed away Monday, September 12,2022 at Novant UVA Health Systems Culpeper Hospital. He was born May 21,1953 to the late Alton Haskins, Sr. and Frances Hill.
He was a member of West Bottom Baptist Church in Bremo Bluff, VA. He was a great father, and a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a very hard worker and a previous employee of the Town of Culpeper Public Works Department. Before he gained his wings, you may have seen him at Big Lots in Culpeper, Sales Associate and greeting customers with a smile.
He is survived by his special friend of 35 years, Patricia Reed; his daughters, Tracie Haskins-Flowers (Swindell, Jr.) and Felicia Reed-Flowers (Jerome), and Teresita Grier. Sisters: Barbara Hill (Jake), Gail Haskins (John), Leslie Woodfolk(Anton), and a very special Sister-in-Law Sue Hunter. Stepchildren: James Nibblins, Conya Nibblins, and Faye Nibblins. His grandchildren: Swindell Flowers, III., Daeshawn Flowers, James Reed-Flowers, Kayli Lattyak (Michael), Wanya Ivey (Lyzza), Samantha Keys (Jason), Katlyn Haskins, and Cameron Grier. His great grandchildren: Jaxon Barnes, Maddix Barnes, Zhuri Villegas, and Zania Ivey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Big Al is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Haskins, and his son, Alton “AL” Haskins, III, and Brenda Nibblins.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20,2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dorothy Payne, from The Way of the Cross Baptist Church in Palmyra, VA, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
