Althea Louise Schottman's Obituary
Althea Louisa Schottman, 82, of Woodville, VA, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at her residence. She was born April 6, 1943, to the late Lawrence Marion Ames and Willa Love Gaylon Ames in Boston, MA.
Althea worked in various positions in local hospitals and taught music to children. She was licensed and worked as a marriage and substance abuse counselor. She loved the performing arts and participated in dance, singing, and theater.
Althea is survived by her husband, Frederick “Fred” Schottman; her son, Joseph Schottman; her daughter, Margaret “Greta” Heid, and her husband, John; her grandson, Nathan Heid; her brother, Richard Ames, and his wife, Sue; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Althea is preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Ames, and sister-in-law, Lillian.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 12762 Lee Highway, Washington, VA, with Fr. Beres officiating.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
