Alma Thume Hall's Obituary
Alma Thume Hall, age 89, of Chesterton, IN passed away on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 off the Sperryville Pike in Virginia with loved ones at her side. She was born on September 28th, 1931 in the city of Trappe, on the eastern shore of Maryland, to Albert and Virginia (Daffin) Thume.
Alma is survived in death by a son, Jeffery “Scott” (Cindy) Hall of Sperryville, VA and daughter, Sherry Hall Brann of Ottawa, KS; grandchildren Wendy (Travis) Lewis, Tim (Sarah) Hall, Lou (Danny) Brann-Border, Evan Brann (fiancé Blake Riedel), and Emma Brann; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother Curtis (Joanne) Thume and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband John “Jack” Hall.
Alma graduated college from Towson State Teacher’s College in 1952. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Primary Education from Valparaiso University. Alma was an active member of Tri Kappa and INEA. She dedicated her life to teaching elementary school for nearly 40 years. She and Jack met in college, married in 1952, and enjoyed 68 years of marriage together. They raised two children in Chesterton, IN. Alma enjoyed singing and traveling the world with Jack and being a Mom Mom to her five grandchildren. She is remembered for being a passionate educator and the loving Matriarch of her family.
The plans for her celebration of life will be finalized and communicated for later in 2021.
