Alice WIlson Rector's Obituary
Alice Wilson Rector, 93, died on January 21, 2007 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was born in Fort Benton, Montana, daughter of Christopher and Vivian Roberts Wilson.
Mrs. Rector was a very active member and past President of the Home Demonstration Clubs both at the Reva and Inlet areas in Culpeper County. She derived great pleasure from her volunteer work with the seniors and ill in the community visiting them in Nursing Homes, calling or taking them to appointments. She was an active member of the women’s organization of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Mrs. Rector was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Vivian Thurber and her husband, Stanley S. Thurber of Houston, TX, her son, James Wilson Rector and his wife, Rebecca C. Rector of Culpeper, granddaughter, Amy E. Payne and her husband, William of Culpeper, grandson, J. Christopher Rector and his wife, Heather of Warrenton, VA, granddaughter, Erin R. Rector of Culpeper, great granddaughter, Rebecca E. Payne of Culpeper, great grandson, William K. Payne Jr. of Culpeper, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Rector, and her sister, Rachel Wilson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Grey and Rev. Philip Walker officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Stevensburg Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 115 N. East St., Culpeper, VA 22701.
