Alice Mae Minor's Obituary
Alice Mae Minor 71, born December 12, 1939 answered her final calling & went home to be with her Lord savior Jesus Christ on Sunday April 3, 2011. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Alice was preceded in death by her parents: Robert & Thelma Walker; son: Walter Jr.; and sister: Thelma Minor. She is survived by her husband: Walter Minor Sr.; aunt: Lillian Brown; sister: Josephine Minor; brother-in-law: George “Doug” Minor and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law: Doris Henderson and husband Rev. Henderson; six children: Phyllis Lewis (Taylor Lewis Sr.), Wayne Minor (Barbara Lee), Grace Minor (Gerald Martin Sr.), Mildred Minor (Ronald Lee), Kevin Minor, and Otis Minor. Sixteen grandchildren: Taylor Jr., Jason, Valerie, LaKesha, Wayne Sr., Sheena, Jaketta, Nicole, Dwayne, Sharonda, Tiffany, Gerald Jr., Latoya, Sharee, Germal, and Dystany. Nine great-grandchildren: Savion, Wayne Jr., Liya, Aniya, Kamaiya, Aaliyah, Johnathan, Lyndon, and DaeVon. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A God fearing woman, Alice lived life to the fullest no matter what she faced. She was an active member in both her church homes: St Stevens & Free Union Baptist Church before becoming ill fifteen years ago. Alice had a passion for giving; loving; and sharing; and welcomed anyone into her home with a warm smile. Through the years Alice became known as “Grandma or Aunt Alice” to many that were in no relations to her; never did she turn a child away. She was a woman of dedication and a believer in keeping her family together as one.
Throughout her life, Alice surrounded herself with the word of the Lord and positive thinking and as she fought her battle she showed her family the true meanings of what is was to have: courage, strength, and belief. These are the things she set out to install in her family and she succeeded. Even through this time of sorrow, we can all find peace because we know she has made it home. We love you dearly and will miss you greatly but God knew you had fought your battle with pride and saw fit to bring his Angel home.
