Alice C. Walker Courtney, born December 25, 1964 in Washington, D.C. to the late, Artise Walker and Florita James Walker, and was called home Monday, January 14, 2019.
Alice married the late, Harvey M. Courtney on May 14, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sister, Shirley Shoulders.
Alice was educated by the D.C. Public School Systems and worked in the mental health field for over 14 years. Alice was a giving woman whose love for life showed through her bright smile and quick wit. Alice filled much of her time caring for her grandchildren and spending time with friends and family.
Those left to cherish her memories are her four sons, Dominique Harris, Sr., Harvi Courtney, Sr., Ali Courtney (Kiersten), and James Courtney (Keaira); three daughters, Christina Courtney, Harneisha Courtney, and Hyesha Smith (Zakhiem); her two brothers, Glenn Walker and Samuel Walker (Linda); her seven sisters, Peggy Shoulders, Nelrita Shoulders, Delphia Shoulders, Mary Gaines (Michael), Artis May Walker, Polly Walker and Queenie Seales (William); 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; 26 nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Alice was a mother to the motherless, a friend and a loyal companion to many. She touched so many people’s lives in ways even she couldn’t imagine. She left her home on earth too soon and the world is empty here without her.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery.
