Alfred G. Budd's Obituary
Alfred G. Budd, 86, of Culpeper died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at his daughter’s residence with his granddaughter at his side. He was born March 13, 1924 in Loudoun County to the late Arthur Henry and Janie Golden Budd.
Mr. Budd served his country as a rifleman and military police officer under General Patton in the U.S. Army during World War II earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a carpenter for many years and enjoyed farming, hunting and watching baseball games.
He is survived by two children, Mary Louise Budd and Vernie J. Bower and her husband, Arnold, one granddaughter, Catherine A. Bower and her boyfriend, Sam Leonard and one sister-in-law, Ruth Ridenour.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Myrtle Mankin, Rebie Poston and Irma Hill, and two brothers, Sidney Budd and Walter D. Budd.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Leatherman Budd, and six siblings, Josephine Farrell, Emma Marshall, William Henry “Billy” Budd, Alice Rector, David J. Budd and Beulah Junnerman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Farrar officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Found and Sons Funeral Chapel.
