Alexander Jameson Decker's Obituary
Alexander J. Decker, 40, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on August 1st, 2025, after a valiant and courageous two-year battle with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.
Alex was known for his care, quick wit, sharp mind, and strong will. Whether you were family, friend, or part of the local community, you felt his presence, his support, and his unique spark. Alex was deeply involved with Gold’s Gym and was a familiar face in the local fitness scene. Outside the gym, he was often found studying, learning, and spending meaningful time with close family and friends.
He studied in Radford, VA, after high school, then moved to Carlsbad, CA to attend the Gemological Institute of America. He later pursued emergency medical services, volunteering as an EMT and working as a personal trainer. Most recently, he was close to finishing his bachelor’s degree in psychology, driven by a desire to become a chaplain and help others navigate their cancer journeys with hope and understanding.
Alex is survived by his parents, Kate and Dan Decker; his siblings Lindsay, Lance, and Ryan; and two aunts, Shirley Howsare and LaVerne Ferguson.
A celebration of life will be held on August 16th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Magnolia Way Farm, 15763 Auburn Road, Culpeper, VA, to honor and remember the joy and laughter Alex brought into the world.
In the spirit of reflection, we share a quote that was meaningful to Alex by John Koenig:
“Time is the most powerful force in the universe. It can turn a giant into someone utterly human, just trying to make their way through… It can flip your greatest shame into the source of your greatest power, or turn a jolt of pride into something petty, done for the wrong reasons, or make what felt like the end of the world look like a natural part of life.”
Alex will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, Virginia, is serving the family.
