Aletha Devine's Obituary
Aletha (Sinkler) Devine, daughter of the late Harkless Sinkler and Dinah Jackson Sinkler was born on August 25, 1936 in Clarendon County, South Carolina.
She received an education from The College of New Rochelle School of Nursing, NY and spent 28 years in the medical profession before accepting an early retirement to care for her ailing father.
She married James W. Devine on July 12, 1975.
She leaves to mourn: her son, Mel (Mima) Sinkler of Fredericksburg, VA; three daughters Sheila Sinkler of Baltimore, MD, Hakeim Hawkins (stepdaughter) of Newark, NJ, and Stephanie Hawkins (stepdaughter) of Union, NJ; two brothers Elijah Sinkler (Annie) of Baltimore, MD and Malachi Sinkler of Baltimore, MD; brother-in-law, Louis (Olivia) Devine Jr. of Detroit, MI; four sisters-in-law, Ira M. Bird from Albion, MI, Gertrude (Joe) Byrd of Elizabeth, NJ, Nettie (Frank) White and Louise Muldrow both from Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren Keiona, Adam (Chelsea), Devoan, Tiarah, Mahogany and Kollen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Aletha was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James W. Devine, her brother, Richard Nelson, and her brother-in-law, Robert Devine.
A memorial service will held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 Tel. 540-891-9735.
The family will be receiving guests at 405 Portland Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
